After working and studying his way through Colorado and Las Vegas, Kevin Thomas now makes his home in Brooklyn, where he teaches and performs with a variety of vibrant and creative artists. His early career was marked by stints with orchestras such as the Boulder Philharmonic, the Nevada Symphony and the Las Vegas Philharmonic as well as tours with Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli. During his time in Las Vegas he was fortunate enough to perform with legendary entertainers Mickey Rooney and Don Rickles among others, and in shows like Chicago and Forever Plaid. He also had the opportunity to support many musicians in concert on Vegas stages and in clubs: Stefan Karisson, Don Menza, Carl Fontana, Joe Lano,
and others. For the past decade, Kevin has criss crossed the country performing Big Band, Latin and Pops concerts for appreciative audiences as the bassist for renown trumpeter and
band leader Doc Severinsen. When not on the road, he was integral in building Brooklyn’s latest state of the art recording facility, Big Orange Sheep Recording Studios, where he spent time recording and producing projects before its close in 2024. Other performance and compositionalefforts can be heard on releases by Eri Yamamoto’s Quadraphonic, Chika Tanaka,
Chris Parrello. Walt Blanton and Rachel Eckroth as well as several albums on the TNC.Jay label.
