The Avi Rothbard Trio

Description

New York City-based veteran guitarist Avi Rothbard’s playing style is synonymous with lyricism, hard-swinging grooves, effortless chops, humor, organic blues feel, and a few fresh harmonic innovations of his own.  Jazz Reviews Online wrote: “His compositions are both stylistically and technically superb and his guitar playing is equally brilliant”, while All About Jazz wrote: “Rothbard is a multifaceted player who is comfortable across a spectrum of many genres, handling each with equal respect and proficiency”.

Mr. Rothbard has shared the stage and recorded with various jazz greats such as Ben Riley, Ben Dixon, Freddy Cole, Wayne Escoffery, Nicole Henry, Gregory Porter, and Jay Leonhart, to name just a few. A prolific composer in his own right, Rothbard’s compositions are featured in several recordings of his peers.

In 2014, Mr. Rothbard has won the John Lennon Songwriting Award for the jazz category. He is also the 2019 winner of the international USA Songwriting Competition in the jazz category. Mr. Rothbard has toured the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East and continues to lead his ensembles in the tri-state area’s various jazz clubs.
